A friendly match between football legends of Tajikistan and Russia will be held in the capital of Tajikistan on May 22. This was reported by the press service of the Football Federation of Tajikistan (FFT).
The match will take place at the Central Republican Stadium in Dushanbe and is timed to coincide with World Football Day, which is celebrated annually on May 25. The decision to establish this date was made by the UN General Assembly in May 2024 on the initiative of the President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), head of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali.
As reported by the FFT, the team of Tajikistan legends will include outstanding football players who have made a significant contribution to the development of domestic football. Among them are Valeriy Tursunov, Oleg Shirinbekov, Asliddin Khabibulloev, Rakhmatullo Fuzailov, Akmal Kholmatov, Rustam Khodjaev, Sukhrob Khamidov, Tokhir Muminov, Subkhon Khodjamov, Khurshed Makhmudov, Odil Irgashev and other famous players.
The team of Russian legends will be represented on the field by such famous veterans as Rinat Dasayev, Egor Titov, Dmitry Alenichev, Valery Shmarov, Sergey Kiryakov, Eldar Nizamutdinov and other famous athletes who previously defended the colors of the Russian national team.
The match is expected to generate wide interest among fans and will become not only a sporting event, but also a symbol of friendship between the peoples of Tajikistan and Russia, as well as a contribution to the popularization of football in the region.
The match is scheduled to begin on the evening of May 22. Admission for spectators will be free.
