A strong dust storm is expected in Tajikistan from May 8 to 10, caused by winds increasing to 15-20 m/s in the southern and northern regions of the republic. This was reported by the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the republic.
The release of significant amounts of dust into the atmosphere will lead to deterioration in air quality.
It is predicted that in most areas of the republic the concentration of suspended particles – PM 2.5 microns and PM 10 microns will significantly exceed the permissible standards, which can cause adverse effects on public health – exacerbation of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as a negative impact especially on the health of children, the elderly and people with chronic diseases.
In this regard, the population, especially people with respiratory diseases and cardiovascular diseases, are advised at this time, if possible, not to leave home unless necessary, use protective masks, limit physical activity outdoors, close windows and doors, and use air purifiers.
If you feel unwell, seek medical attention immediately.
