The project is also included in the fourth phase of the program "Improvement of Regional Communication Routes in Central Asia (URPCR-4)", financed by the World Bank, and is in line with the initiative to declare 2025-2030 "Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development".
According to the signed agreement, a modern system for recording, monitoring and managing road assets will be deployed in Tajikistan within 14 months. The total value of the contract is 1.1 million US dollars.
As noted by the Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim, already in 2023, in accordance with the Law "On Highways and Road Activities", the process of recording road assets for the purpose of their certification was launched in the republic. The first results of the inspection confirmed the need for a systematic approach to managing this infrastructure.
“Collection and analysis of data on the condition of the road network will allow us to identify defects at an early stage, carry out repairs in a timely manner and effectively distribute financial resources allocated for road maintenance,” the minister emphasized.
In addition, the new system will facilitate the development of a long-term road development strategy, the formation of a Road Fund, economic analysis, the exchange of information between departments, and increased transparency in road management.
Speaking at the ceremony, SirWay Oy Director Konsta Mikael Sirviö noted that similar projects had been successfully implemented by their company in a number of countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. He expressed confidence that the introduction of the RAMS in Tajikistan would lead to a significant increase in road safety, an increase in the service life of the transport infrastructure and the rational use of financial resources.
“Thanks to digital tools, we will be able to organize monitoring of the road network, reduce the costs of its maintenance, reduce accidents and improve the interaction of all participants in the road industry,” Sirvio noted.
