Abnormally high temperatures will persist in Tajikistan from July 18 to 20 , according to the press service of the Hydrometeorology Agency of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the department, the maximum daytime air temperature in the valley areas will be from +42 to +47 degrees , in the foothill and mountainous areas – from +35 to +40 degrees , and in the Darvaz region of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region the air will warm up to +40 … +42 degrees .
At the same time, in the foothill and mountainous regions of republican subordination, in the Sughd region, as well as in the western regions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, the risk of mudflows of glacial origin remains.
In addition, water levels are expected to rise in the basins of the Panj, Zeravshan and Vakhsh rivers.
According to the Hydrometeorology Agency, deteriorating air quality is forecast for July 21 and 22 in cities and districts of Khatlon Region, Districts of Republican Subordination, and Dushanbe. This is due to dust entering the country from the south and southwest.
As a result, an increase in the concentration of suspended matter is expected, including particles with a diameter of up to 10 micrometers (PM10) and up to 2.5 micrometers (PM2.5) .
The agency recommends that citizens take precautions in the current unfavorable meteorological conditions.
