Tajik police have solved two cases of theft and are also investigating a fraud case in which the suspect, according to investigators, stole 181,000 somoni from citizens. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to the department, Faizulloeva Kh., a resident of the Falak microdistrict and born in 1975, contacted law enforcement. She reported that on the night of July 2, 2026, at approximately 3:30 a.m., an unknown person secretly entered her home and stole a Redmi 14 mobile phone worth 2,500 somoni, after which he fled.
As a result of operational investigative measures, police officers established that the theft, according to the investigation, was committed by Murod Rozikov, born in 2000, a resident of the Rasht district, previously convicted under Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Additionally, Makhmudov Sh. T., born in 1965, a resident of the Chorbog rural jamoat in the Varzob district, contacted the police. He reported that on July 7, 2026, his daughter-in-law, born in 1996, took advantage of his absence to steal 10,000 somoni from his living room.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that investigations into both thefts are ongoing.
Police officers also detained Nasimjon Umarov, born in 1992, a resident of the village of Kh. Fayzulloev in the Kubodiyon district, on suspicion of fraud.
According to investigators, in December 2025, he gained the trust of Nuriddinov J., a resident of the rural jamoat of Vobkand, and received 61,000 somoni from him, promising to formalize the land titles for two residential buildings. However, investigators allege that he failed to fulfill his obligations and used the money for personal gain.
The investigation also established that in December 2025, the suspect similarly received 60,000 somoni from Z. Murodova, a resident of the rural jamoat named after T. Sangin, promising to draw up documents for a 0.24-hectare residential plot of land.
Furthermore, according to investigators, in April 2025, Umarov similarly received 60,000 somoni from G. Shodieva, a resident of the rural jamoat of Vobkand, promising to formalize the land title for a 0.08-hectare residential building. The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims he also used these funds for personal purposes.
Based on these facts, a criminal case has been opened against Nasimjon Umarov under Part 4 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.
