In the first half of 2026, law enforcement agencies and security forces in Tajikistan seized 2 tons and 963 kg of narcotics from illegal circulation, which is 143 kg, or 5%, less than in the same period last year. This was reported at a press conference by the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on the results of the first half of 2026.
According to the agency, the bulk of the seized drugs consisted of cannabis-type substances – 1 ton 740 kg 936 g, which is 293 kg 649 g (14.4%) less than the previous year.
The volume of seized opium and other opium-group drugs amounted to 695 kg 897 g, a decrease of 220 kg 926 g, or 24%, compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, seizures of psychotropic substances have increased significantly. In the first six months of this year, 526 kg 316 g were seized from illegal circulation, which is 3.3 times higher than the figure for the first half of 2025.
The seized psychotropic substances included 72 kg 853 g of methamphetamine, 5 kg 157 g of MDMA (10,463 tablets), 7 g of phenobarbital (4 tablets), 4,017 alprazolam tablets, and 448 kg 298 g of pregabalin. The Agency noted that pregabalin was one of the largest quantities of psychotropic substances seized illegally imported into the republic.
