163 CCTV cameras have been installed in cities and districts of Tajikistan to monitor compliance with environmental regulations and prevent waste management violations. This was announced on July 9 at a press conference summarizing the performance of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the first half of 2026.
As noted at the press conference, the cameras were installed as part of the State Environmental Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2028. The equipment operates online and uses solar panels as a power source.
The main objective of the video surveillance system is to improve waste management in cities and regions of the country, as well as to prevent violations of environmental legislation.
The Committee noted that the use of cameras allows for enhanced monitoring of the environmental situation and the prompt identification of violations in controlled areas.
Developing an environmental monitoring system is one of the activities of the Committee for Environmental Protection. The agency also implements state environmental programs, climate change adaptation measures, and environmental awareness raising.
