The Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan summarized its performance for the first half of 2026. Key performance indicators were announced today, July 6, at a press conference in Dushanbe.
One of the key events in the country's cultural life will be the opening of the National Theater of Tajikistan. According to Minister of Culture Matlubakhon Sattoriyon, the theater will open on September 9, the country's Independence Day.
Construction of the National Theatre building began in 2015. It is located next to the National Museum, on the territory of the National Flag Park of Tajikistan.
The press conference also presented the results of museum activities. In the first six months of 2026, museums in Tajikistan organized 2,322 excursions and scientific and cultural events, attended by 93,485 people.
Overall, cultural institutions in the country's regions, cities, and districts held 36,734 cultural events during the reporting period. These included scientific and practical conferences, literary and musical performances, book exhibitions, theatrical performances, and concerts.
Publishing activity also continues to grow. In the first half of the year, the Ministry of Culture's publishing houses released 79 titles with a total circulation of 61,050 copies. The total value of these publications exceeded 1.85 million somoni.
In addition, 28 book-related events were held over the six months, including 21 book sales and seven presentations.
According to the Ministry of Culture, there are currently 200 newspapers, 199 magazines and 100 printing houses registered in Tajikistan.
