On July 3, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon arrived in Tehran to attend a ceremony to pay respects and bid farewell to former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei. This was reported by the Tajik presidential press service.
At Tehran International Airport, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon was met by high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.


On the same day in Tehran, Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Tajikistan once again expressed his condolences to the leadership and friendly people of Iran in connection with the death of the country's former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.


During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the development of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
Particular attention was paid to the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, which is considered an important mechanism for developing economic and trade relations between the two countries.


The parties noted that over the past five years, the volume of mutual trade between Tajikistan and Iran has increased eightfold and by the end of 2025 will reach almost $500 million.
At the same time, confidence was expressed in the existence of the necessary conditions for increasing the volume of bilateral trade to $1 billion in the near future.
The parties attached great importance to the implementation of joint projects in the fields of industry, energy, mining, agriculture, road construction, transport, tourism and healthcare.


During the discussion of security issues, hope was expressed for the preservation of the sustainability of the process of achieving peace and harmony, as well as the priority use of political and diplomatic methods for resolving conflicts in the region.
At the end of the meeting, Tajikistan and Iran reaffirmed their mutual interest in further expanding comprehensive cooperation between the two friendly and fraternal states.
