The talks between Iran and the United States, held in Switzerland and mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, have made progress, according to a joint statement by the mediators released on the night of June 22, Interfax reports.
The document notes that the parties have made progress in the negotiation process, which is encouraging. The mediators also emphasized that the meeting was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere.
According to the statement, the negotiators agreed to establish a special group to prevent conflict situations in Lebanon. It will include representatives from the United States, Iran, and Lebanon, and mediators will facilitate its work.
As noted, the main goal of the new group is to ensure an end to hostilities between Israel and the Hezbollah movement.
The parties also agreed to continue technical negotiations on all issues until the end of the week at the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock.
The mediators expressed their intention to continue to make every possible effort to maintain a constructive atmosphere in the negotiations and achieve a final agreement between the United States and Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, commenting on a statement published on the social media site X, noted that the efforts of Pakistani and Qatari mediators have made significant progress in ending the war in Lebanon.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei also reported progress in talks between Tehran and Washington in Switzerland.
Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran last week, negotiations to develop a final agreement are expected to last 60 days, until August 17.
