On June 18–19, 2026, the annual meetings and roundtable of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB) Governors were held in Baku. A delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan, led by Abdurahmonzoda Safarali, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Islamic Development Bank from the Republic of Tajikistan, participated in the meeting. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The IDB's annual meetings are among the Bank's key events, addressing strategic issues of cooperation with member states. During these meetings, decisions were made to increase the Bank's budget for financing member countries, establish the IDB Small Business Guarantee Fund, and establish a Board of Auditors.
Furthermore, the Chairmanship of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank was transferred from the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Burkina Faso. It was also confirmed that the 52nd Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank will be held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in 2027.


At the annual meetings, Islamic Development Bank Group President Dr. Mohammed Sulaiman Al Jasser was re-elected as President of the Bank for a five-year term.
Speaking at the event, Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali noted that thanks to the support and creative initiatives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the country's cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank Group is at a high level.
It was emphasized that, as a result of measures implemented by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the country has entered a new stage of development. From January to May of this year, national economic growth reached 8.1%. The water and energy sectors, transport, the green economy, the climate agenda, the digital economy, innovation, education, healthcare, intellectual property, and human capital development were identified as priority areas for further development.


Of particular significance for Tajikistan was the fact that, as part of these events, the republic became a full member of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investments and Export Credits of the Islamic Development Bank Group.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade emphasized that the Islamic Development Bank remains one of the Republic of Tajikistan's key partners and provides significant financial support for the implementation of the country's priority projects in various areas of socio-economic development.
