A new industrial project involving Chinese investors is planned for the Sughd Free Economic Zone. The construction of a facility to manufacture electric bicycles and tricycles was discussed on June 4 during a meeting between the Sughd Free Economic Zone management and a representative of the Chinese company Chuangxinmeng Ltd. This was reported by NIAT Khovar, citing the free economic zone administration.
According to a source, Muhammad Muhammadzoda, head of the Sughd SEZ, held talks with Meng Ming, a representative of the Chinese company. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
Muhammad Muhammadzoda briefed the foreign investor on the free economic zone's activities and the legislative incentives available to investors in Tajikistan. He emphasized that the FEZ administration is committed to comprehensive and fruitful cooperation with entrepreneurs and investors from the People's Republic of China.
Following the talks, the parties expressed interest in the practical implementation of the agreements reached. Specifically, the construction of a plant for the production of electric bicycles and tricycles within the free economic zone was discussed.
The Sughd Free Economic Zone focuses on production and innovation. It was established by a decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on May 2, 2008, and began operations in April 2009. Currently, the number of entities within the Sughd FEZ exceeds 40.
Enterprises operating within the zone produce import-substituting products and actively develop trade and economic ties with foreign countries. Products manufactured here are exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Germany, Iraq, Turkey, and the Russian Federation.
