As of May 30, 182,448 hectares of agricultural land in Tajikistan were sown with cotton, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, seedlings have already been obtained on 147,410 hectares of crops.
The ministry noted that cotton farming plays a vital role in the country's economy. This sector not only provides industry with essential raw materials but also contributes to job creation and the development of finished goods production.
Cotton remains one of Tajikistan's main export commodities. Its global price has been noted to increase annually.
