Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party won 49.81% of the vote in the parliamentary elections, according to data released by the country's Central Election Commission after 100% of the ballots had been counted.
Four parties are entering parliament. In addition to the ruling party, these are Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia bloc (23.29%), former President Robert Kocharyan's Armenia Alliance (9.94%), and Prosperous Armenia (4%).
Nikol Pashinyan declared his party's victory overnight, after 20% of the votes had been counted. Former President Kocharyan called this assertion "steps to put pressure on the Central Election Commission and usurp power."
Following the publication of the Central Election Commission's final results, Mr. Pashinyan posted his own portrait on his Instagram account (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia), accompanied by the Queen song "We are the Champions."
A total of 18 political forces participated in the elections. Turnout exceeded 50%.
