Dushanbe police conducted an investigation after a video showing the abuse of a young child surfaced on social media. The video sparked widespread public outcry and public concern, according to the Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs.
The investigation revealed that the woman captured on video is Dushanbe resident Mavluda Burkhonova, born in 2004. According to law enforcement, she committed cruelty against her one-year-old child.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Burkhonova had previously been charged under Articles 110 and 239 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, which provide for liability for intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm and involvement in prostitution.
Officers from the Sino District Department of Internal Affairs No. 2 prepared the necessary documents regarding this incident. In accordance with Article 73 of the Family Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, which provides for the possibility of removing a child from parents without depriving them of parental rights, the documents will be submitted to the court for a decision.
Issues of ensuring the safety of the child, as well as his or her further maintenance and upbringing, are under the control of the relevant government agencies.
The Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs called on citizens to take a responsible approach to raising their children, ensuring their safety, and protecting their legal rights and interests.
