The international shashmaqom festival-competition "Ushshok Rakhmon" concluded in Khujand, where the shashmaqom ensemble of the State Philharmonic of Tajikistan named after Akasharif Juraev took first place.
The festival was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence and Shashmaqam Day. The event was held for the first time at the initiative of the Executive Authority of State Authority of Sughd Region from May 10 to 12.
The festival featured performers, musicologists, and cultural experts from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Azerbaijan, and France. The program included cultural events, an academic conference, a "Best Performer" competition, a gala concert, and an awards ceremony.






The festival's closing ceremony took place on the evening of May 12 at the "Khalai Khujand" (Khujand Fortress) Historical and Cultural Complex. The winners were presented with awards by Sughd Region Governor Rajab Akhmadzoda and Tajikistan's Minister of Culture Matlubakhon Sattoriyon.
The festival's main award, "Shakhjaizu," was received by the group "Nuri Khujand" from the Sughd region.
First place was shared between the Shashmaqom ensemble of the State Philharmonic of Tajikistan named after Akasharif Juraev and the Shashmaqom ensemble from Bukhara.



Second place was awarded to the Shashmakom ensemble from Fergana, as well as to the vocalist of the Khujand Shashmakom ensemble, Sardorbek Soliev.


The third prize winners were the ensemble "Shashmakom" from Azerbaijan and a young performer from the Spitamen region, Navbahor Sharipova.

The winner of the main category received a cash prize of $7,000. First, second, and third place winners received $5,000, $3,500, and $2,000, respectively.
In addition, shashmaqam specialists, active festival participants, guests, and representatives of the art of shashmaqam were awarded special prizes from the Chairman of the Sughd Region, ranging from $500 to $1,000.
