On May 6, the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan signed an investment agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Ruftob LLC to implement a project to equip businesses and other consumers with solar panels with a total capacity of 2,000 MW. This was reported by the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The project aims to accelerate the country's energy independence, develop green energy, and implement renewable energy sources. The initiative also aims to reduce capacity shortages in the power system, efficiently utilize solar energy, and establish a sustainable mechanism for investment cooperation in the solar energy sector.
The State Committee emphasized that the project's implementation is consistent with the goals of Tajikistan's National Development Strategy to 2030 and the Investment Attraction Strategy to 2040. The project aims to diversify energy sources, develop clean energy, and reduce dependence on imported sources.

According to the agreement, the project will create an additional 2,000 MW of power capacity in the country. Annual electricity production is expected to reach 3.5 billion kWh.
Furthermore, the project is expected to create over 500 new jobs and attract up to $1 billion in direct investment. The project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the environment.
The agency noted that businesses will be able to generate their own electricity and transmit any surplus to the country's power grid. Authorities believe this will reduce the load on power grids, improve energy efficiency, and increase Tajikistan's export potential.
The document also stipulates that at least 80% of the project's workers will be Tajik citizens. At the same time, it is planned to create conditions for the training of highly qualified specialists.
