On April 27, 2026, a meeting of the expert group was held at the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States to approve a draft resolution of the CIS Council of Heads of State on amending the Regulation on the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States, the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee reported.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, as well as the Secretariat of the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General and the CIS Executive Committee.
Taking into account the Executive Committee's editorial comments and suggestions, the meeting participants reviewed and revised the draft document. Following the discussion, expert approval of the draft was deemed complete. The document is planned to be submitted to the CIS Council of Heads of State for consideration in accordance with established procedures.
The Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General was established on December 7, 1995. By a decision of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS on January 25, 2000, it was granted the status of an intergovernmental body of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The Council includes the Prosecutors General of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, who have equal rights.
The main objectives of the Coordinating Council are to coordinate and consolidate efforts, coordinate actions, and expand cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of the CIS member states in the area of protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, strengthening law and order, combating crime, developing proposals for the harmonization of national legislation, and participating in the development of the CIS legal framework.
