The European Union has removed three Tajik financial institutions from its sanctions list, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan.
It is noted that as a result of dialogue and cooperation between the relevant authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan and European partners, a favorable basis was created for revising previously introduced restrictions.
According to the European Commission's decision of April 23, 2026, adopted as part of the 20th EU sanctions package, Spitamen Bank CJSC, Dushanbe City Bank CJSC, and Commerzbank of Tajikistan OJSC have been removed from the sanctions list. These organizations were previously included in the 19th sanctions package.
This decision is seen as a result of expanded cooperation between the regulator and the country's relevant ministries and agencies with the European Commission, as well as the consistent implementation of international compliance standards and strengthening of the anti-money laundering system.
This move is expected to further develop the banking system, increase investor confidence and expand financial services in the country.
The National Bank of Tajikistan emphasized that special attention will be paid to implementing reforms, increasing transparency, strengthening the internal control system, and ensuring the banking system's compliance with international standards.
