The regional round of the National "Shoknomakhoni" (Shahnameh Reading) competition kicked off in the Rudaki district on April 20, NIAT Khovar reported.
The competition is held to honor the legacy of the classic Tajik poet Abulqosim Firdawsi, to study his work and the rich history of the Tajik people, as well as to deeply understand the outstanding deeds of our ancestors and strengthen national identity and a sense of patriotic pride.
It is emphasized that Abulqosim Firdawsi's "Shahnameh" is an important source of moral education and enlightenment, playing a significant role in the development of youth. In 2025, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon donated this work to every Tajik family, which, as noted, contributed to increased interest in the competition among teenagers and young adults.
According to the Rudaki District Education Department, 2,243 people participated in the first stage of the competition, 1,773 of whom were girls, representing all age groups. Following the selection process, 747 participants advanced to the district stage.
It is reported that these participants will present their knowledge to the jury in order to gain the right to advance to the next, regional stage of the competition.
