The international tourism forum and exhibition "Khatlon – Land of Civilizations and Travel" will be held in the Muminabad district of Khatlon region on June 4–5, according to NIAT Khovar.
The main goal of the event is to showcase the region's tourism potential, attract investment, and strengthen international cooperation. Representatives from more than 20 countries are expected to participate.
It is noted that Khatlon Region possesses significant natural, historical, cultural, and environmental potential, making tourism a priority for regional economic development. According to the analysis, the number of foreign tourists visiting the region is increasing annually.
Almost all the region's cities and districts have tourist attractions. Among the most famous sites are Takhti-Sangin, Chiluchorchashma, Childukhtaron, the mausoleum of Imam Zaynalobiddin, as well as the mausoleums of Mir Said Ali Hamadani and Hazrat Sultan Uvaysi Karani.
Particular attention is paid to the natural site of Childukhtaron, located in the Muminabad district, approximately 250 kilometers south of Dushanbe. The mountain is located 28 kilometers north of the district center, near the village of Dashti-ar-ar, and is a complex of pyramidal rocks up to 60 meters high, shaped by the wind. Numerous legends are associated with this place, according to which the forty stone formations symbolize the chastity of Tajik women.
It is emphasized that the Childukhtaron natural complex attracts tourists with its unusual shape, the beauty of its red cliffs, and its cultural significance. Forum participants are expected to have the opportunity to explore this site.
Tourists in the region are also offered national dishes such as oshi burida, shakarob, and qurutob, as well as traditional flatbreads and organic fruits. The region is home to 138 species of medicinal plants, 45 species of honey plants, and 98 species of food plants. With the arrival of spring and the spring holidays, women in the region prepare national dishes for tourists and demonstrate their crafts.
The Muminabad district is characterized by industrial, health, and recreational tourism. Thanks to the development of road infrastructure, including the reconstruction of international highways and the construction of facilities, campsites, and sanatoriums, the district is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists.
In 2025, 110,781 tourists visited Muminabad district, of which 107,942 were domestic and 2,839 were foreign.
Currently, the region has 32 historical and cultural monuments, 20 tourist sites, 12 resorts and sanatoriums, 20 pilgrimage sites, 6 hotels, 4 cultural and recreational parks, as well as dozens of restaurants, teahouses, information centers and other infrastructure facilities.
In total, in Khatlon region there are 940 historical, cultural and archaeological sites, 121 hotels, 139 tourist attractions, 251 resorts and sanatoriums, 142 restaurants, 45 museums, 19 travel companies, 128 teahouses, 371 ATMs, 50 guest houses, 240 roadside toilets, 68 souvenir shops, 115 pilgrimage sites, 45 parks and recreation areas, 80 road signs and 26 tourist information centers.
According to data from the Executive Authority of the Khatlon Region, 344 thousand tourists visited the region in the first quarter of 2026.
