In the city of Tokmok, officers from the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan discovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, presumably belonging to members of the organized crime group of the late crime boss Kamchy Kolbaev, Tengrinews.kz reports.
According to the State Committee for National Security, the cache was discovered during investigative operations aimed at combating organized crime. It is believed the arsenal may have been prepared for illegal use.
Security forces seized various weapons and ammunition from the cache. Among them were two sawed-off shotguns, two mines, one improvised explosive device, a grenade, TNT, as well as a mask, knives, detonators, and ammunition of various calibers.
The agency did not rule out the possibility that this arsenal was intended for the commission of particularly serious crimes, including the destabilization of the socio-political situation in the republic, for which the arrival of an "opportune time" was expected.
The seized weapons have been sent for forensic ballistics analysis. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to establish the possible connection of this arsenal to previous crimes.
Kamchy Kolbaev was a well-known crime boss in Kyrgyzstan who was killed during an arrest by law enforcement on October 4, 2023. He was known for his ties to organized crime groups and involvement in various crimes, including drug trafficking, arms trafficking, extortion, and racketeering.
Since his death, Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies have continued to identify and suppress the activities of criminal groups associated with him.
