Russia will impose a ban on gasoline exports by domestic producers starting April 1. This was reported on March 27 by the state news agency TASS, citing two sources familiar with the situation.
According to the report, this measure was adopted following a meeting between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and representatives of relevant ministries and oil companies and will remain in effect until July 31.
Later, Alexander Novak stated that this measure is aimed at stabilizing prices and ensuring priority fuel supplies to the domestic market, which will prevent prices from rising above the projected level.
Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister stated at a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Energy that the Russian government must take immediate action to prevent price increases at gas stations and ensure stability in the domestic fuel market amid the global energy crisis.
According to him, prices for petroleum products and crack spreads—the difference between the price of oil and the petroleum products derived from it—have currently risen significantly worldwide.
