On March 4, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received President of the Asian Development Bank Masato Kanda.
The head of state congratulated Masato Kanda on his election as president of the bank and viewed his first visit to Tajikistan as a sign of the financial institution's special commitment to strengthening long-term cooperation between the two sides, according to the press service of the President of Tajikistan.
During the conversation, the current level of interaction and the bank's contribution to achieving Tajikistan's socio-economic development goals were highly praised.
It was emphasized that the Asian Development Bank is one of the country's main partners and, over the years of cooperation, has contributed to the implementation of more than 200 projects totaling $2.9 billion.



The parties expressed satisfaction with the adoption of the bank’s new Partnership Strategy with Tajikistan for 2026–2030.
It was noted that its main areas, including the development of energy, transport, digitalization, adaptation to climate change, as well as strengthening the social and private sectors, are fully consistent with Tajikistan's national goals.
Particular attention was paid to the process of implementing priority investment projects.
The head of state expressed gratitude to the bank for its support of the state budget and the promotion of initiatives in the area of developing a "green" economy.


Prospects for expanding cooperation in the areas of education, combating the effects of climate change, and preserving glaciers were also discussed.
In this regard, the need to attract additional funding and continue structural reforms to develop human capital and ensure environmental safety in the region was noted.
Having confirmed their commitment to strengthening long-term mutually beneficial cooperation, the parties expressed confidence that the results of today's meeting will contribute to the further development of the strategic partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank.
