The Israeli military launched a "preemptive" strike on Iran, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said.
"The State of Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran, which is expected to result in a missile and drone strike against the State of Israel in the near future," Channel 12 quotes the minister as saying.
Katz declared a state of emergency in the country. He said that missile and drone attacks on Israel are expected in the near future.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has issued sirens and issued notices warning people to stay near shelters. As of 9:00 AM Moscow time, educational events, gatherings, and office work are prohibited in Israel, with the exception of those in essential sectors. Schools across the country are closed, the population is advised to work from home, and public gatherings are prohibited.
According to the Fars news agency, three explosions occurred in Tehran.
Last night, US President Donald Trump announced a difficult decision on Iran. In turn, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on American citizens to refrain from traveling to Iran and those already in the country to leave immediately.
