The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan , Kokhir Rasulzoda , and the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev .
During the meeting, issues related to the development of intergovernmental cooperation in the areas of economics and trade, transport and logistics, energy, light industry and mining, agriculture, culture, tourism, and other areas of mutual interest were discussed.
Opening the meeting, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda recalled the favorable atmosphere of cooperation between the two countries and emphasized that, thanks to the political will and wisdom of the heads of state—President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov —a new page has been opened in the history of Tajik-Kyrgyz relations.
As noted, 2025 marked a historic milestone in the development of relations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, confirming the high level of bilateral political dialogue and the two states' commitment to building a sustainable system of interstate relations.



It was separately emphasized that the successful completion of the process of delimitation of the state border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan has become an important factor in strengthening security and stability not only in the two countries, but also in the entire region.
The parties noted that the newly created Intergovernmental Council serves as an effective mechanism for developing bilateral partnerships and implementing agreements reached at the level of heads of state.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda expressed Tajikistan's interest in further developing good-neighborly relations and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic. According to him, the Intergovernmental Council creates favorable conditions and broad opportunities for advancing joint initiatives, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and deepening collaboration in energy, transport, agriculture, and other priority areas.





The head of the Tajik government confirmed his readiness to consistently implement bilateral documents and further develop partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, the parties outlined plans for the phased implementation of signed cooperation documents in all areas, and also identified new ways to expand cooperation in various fields.
Participants expressed confidence that the meeting would create the necessary foundation for intensifying and strengthening further Tajik-Kyrgyz cooperation.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic was signed, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Export Center for Export Development and Promotion under the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Kyrgyz Republic.
