A 34-year-old local resident filed a fraud report with the Shohmansur District Police Department in Dushanbe, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to the investigation, on March 28, 2025, a 33-year-old Dushanbe resident received a 2024 Mercedes-Benz worth $150,000 from the complainant. He paid $20,000 and provided a receipt for the remaining amount to be repaid soon, but never returned $130,000. The car was subsequently sold to another person for $117,000, and the suspect used the proceeds for personal use.
In the Khatlon region, during operational investigative activities, it was established that between August and October 2025, a 34-year-old resident of the city of Levakant, having gained the trust of a 45-year-old resident of the Kushoniyon district, gradually received 261 thousand somoni from him, which he also spent on his own interests.
Similarly, from July 2024 to December 2025, the suspect took advantage of the trust of a 51-year-old resident of the city of Bokhtar and received 137,220 somoni from him, but the money was not returned.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 4 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. An investigation is ongoing.
