A meeting of the expert group to finalize the draft Program for the Implementation of the Concept for the Formation of a Unified (Common) Educational Space of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for the Period 2027–2035 was held on January 22 at the CIS headquarters, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth.
During the meeting, the experts reviewed proposals submitted by participating states, finalized the draft Program, and agreed on its key provisions. Following the meeting, it was decided to forward the meeting materials to the Commonwealth countries, the Interparliamentary Assembly, and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.
The draft Program for the Implementation of the Concept for the Formation of a Unified Educational Space in the CIS for 2027–2035 is being developed in accordance with the Decision of the Council for Cooperation in Education. This decision was adopted following an inventory of the CIS legal framework in education and is due to the expiration of a previously adopted similar document.
The draft of the new Program includes measures aimed at improving mechanisms for developing harmonized models of legal regulation for interaction between CIS countries in the field of education, as well as realizing the scientific, technical, and educational potential of national education systems. Particular attention is paid to harmonizing approaches to the training and certification of scientific and teaching personnel.
In addition, the Program includes planned activities for cooperation in the field of inclusive education, improvement of systems for monitoring and quality control of vocational education, and expansion of joint projects in the field of distance learning using digital technologies and data analytics.
The next meeting of the expert group to review the draft Program is scheduled to take place in February 2026 in Minsk.
