The National Bank of Tajikistan has urged citizens to exercise increased vigilance and caution when using payment cards, mobile banking applications, and online services.
The regulator emphasized that fraudsters may pose as employees of financial institutions, mobile operators, or "support centers" and fraudulently obtain confidential information.
The National Bank strongly recommends that citizens never disclose personal information. "Never disclose personal information such as card numbers, PINs, or one-time SMS codes to others, even if they claim to be financial institution employees," the bank's statement notes.
The agency also advises against panicking if you receive suspicious calls or messages, and against clicking on unknown links. "Don't open them or install unfamiliar programs. To verify information and receive assistance, contact only the official numbers and networks of financial institutions, and use the official app and website," the National Bank of Tajikistan added.
Previously, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan warned of a rise in bank card fraud. Law enforcement officials noted that fraudsters may use the cards for illegal activities.
