Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted US President Donald Trump's invitation to join the Peace Council, which will focus on resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip and potentially other international crises, the Times of Israel reported, citing the Prime Minister's Office.
The Peace Council is an initiative of Donald Trump and is expected to seek political solutions to conflicts in various regions of the world, beginning with the situation in the Gaza Strip. Trump himself is expected to lead the body for life.
Previously, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Belarus, Hungary, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates announced their agreement to join the Peace Council.
At the same time, diplomats from a number of European countries expressed concern that the US President's initiative could be seen as an attempt to create an alternative platform to the UN for resolving global conflicts.
