The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarovich, participated in the United Nations Program for the Economy of Central Asia (SPECA) Economic Forum on the theme "International Year of Peace and Trust: Regional Integration for Sustainable Development," which was held on January 21, 2026, in Ashgabat via videoconference. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.
During the forum, Abdurahmonzoda delivered a speech and highlighted the results of the SPECA Heads of State Summit, held in Baku in November 2023. The minister emphasized the importance of implementing initiatives to ensure the unimpeded movement of agricultural products, develop e-commerce, improve transport infrastructure, and ensure the rational use of water resources. He emphasized that the effective implementation of these initiatives can contribute to strengthening regional integration and inclusive economic development.

The Minister also noted that SPECA member countries account for over 35% of Tajikistan's foreign trade, but that existing opportunities are underutilized. Therefore, special attention is being paid to developing transport integration, improving multi-industry transport corridors, creating modern logistics centers, and digitalizing transport procedures.
In the energy sector, Abdurakhmonzoda emphasized that Tajikistan plays a key role in the development of "green energy" and increasing the capacity of electricity production from renewable sources.
It's worth noting that the SPECA Economic Forum is one of the program's key events and is held annually in one of the region's countries. Tajikistan will host the forum in 2024.
