On the night of January 18, the Russian army again attacked regions of Ukraine using unmanned aerial vehicles. The strikes killed two people and injured dozens, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Telegram channel.
According to the Ukrainian leader, Russian attack drones attacked territories in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions. A total of over 200 drones were launched. The Ukrainian Air Force clarified that 201 drones were launched overnight, of which 167 were shot down by air defense systems.
The Ukrainian President noted that a child was among the injured. A 20-year-old resident of the Kholodnohirsk district of Kharkiv Oblast died when a drone struck a private home. In the Odesa Oblast, an energy facility in the south of the region was attacked; no injuries were reported.
According to Zelenskyy, over the past week alone, Ukrainian regions have been subjected to more than 1,300 Russian drone attacks, approximately 1,050 guided bombs, and 29 missile strikes. The president called on Western allies to increase supplies of air defense equipment to protect Ukraine.
