The first working meeting on the activities of the CIS Human Rights Commission in 2026 was held at the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The event was chaired by Evgeniya Paramonova, Representative of the Republic of Belarus. This year, the chairmanship of the Commission passed to Belarus in accordance with the rotation procedure. This was reported by the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee.
The meeting, held via videoconference, was attended by members of the Commission from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation, as well as authorized representatives of the offices of the members of the Commission from the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, employees of the Secretariat of the Commission and the CIS Executive Committee.
Participants were presented with the Commission's Work Plan for 2026, updated by the Secretariat based on proposals from participating countries. This document was previously adopted as a basis at the Commission's fifth meeting on December 5, 2025. Key topics and planned activities are closely linked to the Year of Health, which is being celebrated in the Commonwealth in 2026 in accordance with the Decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State of October 14, 2022.
Those present discussed issues related to the organization and implementation of the events provided for in the Plan and came to a consensus on the need for close coordination of efforts to ensure a high organizational level and the effectiveness of the Commission's events.
