A meeting of representatives of the ministries of justice of the CIS member states was held at the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The event was held via videoconference, the CIS Executive Committee reported.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, basic organizations in the field of advocacy and notarial activities, as well as employees of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting focused on current issues related to the activities of the Council of Ministers of Justice of the CIS Member States. Participants summarized the results of their joint work for 2025 and discussed the priorities for the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia's chairmanship of the Council in 2026.
The main item on the agenda was the implementation of the Council's Plan of Key Activities for 2026. The plan includes more than 20 events in various areas of the Justice Ministries' activities, including legal education, digitalization of legal aid, cooperation in the areas of civil registration, notarial and advocacy activities, and other issues.
One of the Council's priority areas of work in 2026 will be the digitalization of international legal assistance as part of the implementation of the Roadmap for the Creation of a Unified Electronic System for the Exchange of Information between the Ministries of Justice of the CIS Member States. The corresponding Concept was approved by Council Resolution No. 6 of June 25, 2025.
In addition, the participants discussed the need to continue monitoring the implementation of domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of international treaties in the legal sphere.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of preparations for events planned for 2027, which was declared the Year of Legal Education in the Commonwealth by the decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State on October 8, 2024.
The next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Justice of the CIS member states is scheduled for February 2026.
