Tajikistan is expected to see a sharp drop in temperatures starting January 16, along with rain and snow, according to the country's Hydrometeorology Agency.
According to forecasters, temperatures will drop by 8-10 degrees. While temperatures in Dushanbe are expected to reach 16-18 degrees Celsius on January 15, the mercury in the capital will drop to 7-9 degrees Celsius on January 16. Cloudy skies are forecast, with rain and snow expected.
On January 17, temperatures in Dushanbe will drop further, to between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius, with snow expected. On Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will be 1–2 degrees higher, with no precipitation forecast.
Cold snaps and precipitation are expected throughout the republic. In the coldest part of the country—in the eastern Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region—the temperature could drop to minus 50 degrees Celsius.
