In the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), achievements in all areas in 2025 are noticeable. On January 12, an expanded meeting chaired by GBAO Governor Mirzonabot Alisher Khudoberdi was held to discuss the results of GBAO's socioeconomic development in 2025 and objectives for the first quarter of 2026. Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan Rahmon Yusuf Akhmadzod participated in the meeting, according to the GBAO press service.
The meeting was opened by Mirzonabot Regional Governor Alisher Khudoberdi, who noted that the GBAO executive bodies had summarized their performance in 2025, achieving significant results across all areas. The deputy governor presented detailed information on the region's socioeconomic development.
The GBAO budget revenue plan for 2025, including the off-budget social tax, was fulfilled by 104.3%. Instead of the planned 271.8 million somoni, the budget received 283.4 million somoni, which is 11.6 million somoni more than planned. Total budget expenditures on social spheres amounted to 521 million 095 thousand somoni, which is 130 million 998 thousand somoni more than the 2024 budget and accounts for 83.6% of the region's total budget.



Last year, the region's banking system and credit institutions ensured the provision of loans, access to high-quality banking services, and the attraction of savings from individuals and businesses, as well as expanded the digital banking and financial services system. In compliance with Decree No. 586 of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated June 22, 2023, "On measures to expand non-cash payments," 1,412 POS terminals and QR codes were operational in the region, an increase of 211 units, or 18%, compared to the 2024 target.
According to the deputy head of the region, 13 public investment projects with a total value of $412.1 million are being implemented in the region. The region's socio-economic development program for 2021–2025 includes 138 projects worth 4 billion 759 million somoni. As of January 1, 2026, 103 projects worth 4 billion 905.7 million somoni have been completed, representing 75% of the completed projects and 3.2% of the raised funds.



As part of the fourth strategic goal for accelerated industrialization of the country, the total volume of industrial production in GBAO in 2025 reached 336.4 million somoni, which is 29.3 million somoni more than in the same period last year.
According to the action plan for the region's cities and districts to celebrate the 35th anniversary of independence, 1,362 facilities are planned for construction and repair. To date, 1,469 have been commissioned, representing 107.9% of the planned completion date. These include a 3,400-meter-long road tunnel in the Darvaz district, a 200-meter-long road bridge in the city of Khorog, 3.7 kilometers of roads, 550 meters of avalanche galleries, and an 82-meter-long road bridge in the village of Barsemi in the Suchon rural district of the Shugnan district. As part of the reconstruction of the Vanj-Rushan Pass road, construction continues on one 1.8-kilometer tunnel, 15 road bridges, and five avalanche galleries. Asphalt paving of the road to the center of the Vanj district, a distance of 18 kilometers, has been completed, and reconstruction of the road in the Yazgulem rural district is ongoing. In the Rubot area of the Sezhdi rural district of the Roshtkala region, a bridge was built that shortened the route to the remote village of Dzhavshangoz by 10 km.
Agricultural production during the reporting period amounted to 1 billion 131.2 million somoni, 43.3 million somoni more than in 2024, representing a 104% increase. As of January 1, 2026, winter crops were sown on an area of 269 hectares, representing 86.2% of the planned sowing.
