Work is underway in the Republic of Tajikistan to activate a new multimodal transport corridor connecting Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Turkey. This was reported by the press center of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan.
"To ensure the stability and sustainable development of logistics, transportation, and customer satisfaction, we plan to expand international cooperation within the framework of intergovernmental agreements and international conventions. To date, 54 documents have been signed, 27 of which are bilateral agreements with 16 countries," the ministry noted.
According to the agency, ten international transport corridors pass through Tajikistan, including four corridors within the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC), two TRACECA corridors (Transport Corridor Europe – Caucasus – Asia), three corridors of the Asian Highway Network, and one corridor of the European Agreement on Main International Traffic Arteries.
In September 2025, an Agreement on International Automobile Transport between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China was signed in Beijing. This Agreement, along with bilateral transport, allows for the delivery of goods to third countries and transit through China.
In addition, by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 1, 2025, the draft Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Government of Serbia on the international transport of passengers and goods was approved and is at the ratification stage.
Currently, the draft Agreement on a Single Transit Pass for TRACECA, the Agreement on International Transport of Passengers and Goods, and the Government Resolution on the approval of the draft agreement with Hungary are being finalized by the relevant ministries and agencies.
To further expand cooperation in the transport sector, the Ministry plans to sign a number of bilateral agreements on international road transport with Lithuania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Moldova, Estonia, and other countries.
