A case of fraud involving the purchase and sale of small livestock on a large scale has been uncovered in the Devashtich district, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reports.
According to the agency, as a result of investigative operations, police officers discovered that a 44-year-old resident of the Devashtich district deceived a 49-year-old resident of Dushanbe on October 26, 2025. At the Khujand livestock market, the suspect purchased 76 head of small cattle from him via bank transfer for 392,500 somoni, paying 4,000 somoni in advance.
The suspect subsequently refused to pay the remaining 388,500 somoni, sold the cattle to third parties, and spent the proceeds on personal use. The damages have not yet been compensated.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under Part 4 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.
