On the night of December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026, 698 children were born in Tajikistan.
The largest number of newborns was registered in the Khatlon region, the smallest – in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
According to the Department of Organization of Medical Care for Mothers and Children and Family Planning of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan, the distribution of newborns by region is as follows: 248 children were born in the Khatlon region, 162 in the Sughd region, 120 in the city of Dushanbe, 160 in the districts of republican subordination, and 8 in GBAO.
In addition, on January 1, 2026, 24 children were born in the Dangara district, of which 17 were boys and 7 were girls, reports NIAT Khovar.
On January 2, a "Visiting the Mother and First Child Born in 2026" event was held at medical facilities in the Dangara District. Participants visited the maternity wards of district hospitals, congratulated mothers who gave birth on New Year's Day, and presented them with commemorative gifts.
