In 2026, Tajikistan will begin construction and reconstruction of 300 kilometers of international and national highways at a cost of approximately 3 billion somoni, the Ministry of Transport press center reported.
In 2025, 236 kilometers of roads and other transport infrastructure facilities worth 5.4 billion somoni were built and commissioned under state investment projects. Sixteen projects with a total cost of 11.3 billion somoni are currently underway.
According to the ministry, there are 225 registered transport companies in the country, of which only 107 have their own facilities. The rest lease equipment and infrastructure, which, according to the ministry, impacts the quality of services provided and compliance with regulations for the transportation of goods and passengers.
