In Tajikistan's Khatlon region, rescuers recovered three bodies from the Norak River after a motorboat capsized, according to the Tajikistan Emergency Situations Committee (ESC).
The incident occurred on December 21, 2025, at approximately 1:30 AM. Six people—citizens of the city of Norak, the Dekhoti Puli Sangin Jamoat, and one person from the Yovon district—were attempting to cross a motorboat from the Dekhoti Dukani Jamoat toward the village of Girdob in the Dekhoti Puli Sangin Jamoat. While crossing near the shore, the boat capsized, dumping seven people into the water. Four survived.
The survivors were: Saidov Badriddin Shamsiddinovich, born September 15, 1995, Nazarov Nazarbek, born in 1995, Khakberdiev Kholmirzo, born in 1995, and Saidov Bosit Zafarovich, born in 1997, all residents of the city of Norak, Jamoat Dekhoti Puli Sangin, the village of Girdob.
After receiving the information, a special rapid response team from the Khatlon Emergency Situations Committee conducted a search on the surface and underwater. The bodies of the drowned citizens were recovered and handed over to the appropriate authorities.
In light of the incident, the committee calls on citizens using boats on the Norak River to strictly adhere to safety regulations, ensure their vessels are in good working order, and pay particular attention to safe use during the winter.
