A teenager detained on suspicion of attacking a school in the Odintsovo urban district of the Moscow region and murdering a 10-year-old boy from a Tajik family has confessed and provided a detailed account of the preparation and circumstances of the crime, according to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
According to investigators, the 15-year-old student had been preparing for the attack for a week. During this time, he wrote an 11-page manifesto titled "My Anger," in which he expressed hatred for people and categorized them by ethnicity and religion. In his notes, the teenager declared his intention to attack an educational institution.
The attack occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 16, at Uspenskaya Secondary Comprehensive School, located in the village of Gorki-2 in the Odintsovo Urban District near Moscow. The attacker, a 15-year-old ninth-grade student, entered the school with a knife. According to investigators and law enforcement, he wounded a security guard and several students. A 10-year-old fourth-grade student died from his stab wounds. The security guard was taken to a hospital.
It was reported that before the attack, the teenager asked the deceased boy about his nationality. It was later determined that the deceased was from a Tajik family. According to the Telegram channel "112," his name was Kobiljon A.
According to TASS, the attacker, wearing a balaclava, used pepper spray, then stabbed a security guard and fatally shot a ten-year-old schoolboy. Three people were reportedly injured. The child's death was also confirmed by the Children's Rights Commissioner.
According to the Telegram channels Mash and "Beware, News," the teenager changed clothes in the school restroom and, for approximately eight minutes, freely moved through the school hallways, entered classrooms, and interacted with teachers and students, searching for a specific teacher.
The attacker reportedly filmed his actions and posted the videos on his Telegram channel. Footage circulated on social media shows the teenager approaching a group of children in the hallway, presumably a teacher, and asking about their ethnicity. A security guard then ran up to him, demanding he put down his knife. The teenager refused, pushed the guard away, sprayed pepper spray in his face, and stabbed him. At this point, the teacher can be heard screaming for the children to take cover in their classrooms.
The attacker then chased after one of the schoolchildren, shouting threats, caught up with him, and stabbed him several times. The boy died at the scene from his injuries.
After this, as Baza reports, the teenager barricaded himself in one of the school's classrooms, holding a hostage. Negotiations were conducted with him. During the assault, security forces detained the attacker and led him out of the building in handcuffs. The hostage was unharmed.
The school's students were evacuated. More than 100 children were taken to a nearby sports complex, while some took refuge in the Youth Center. According to the Telegram channel "Beware, Moscow," frightened parents attempted to retrieve their children shortly after the attack, including through the building's windows.
After the teenager's arrest, law enforcement began searching the school premises. According to "Beware, Moscow" and Baza, shortly before the attack, he assembled an object resembling an improvised explosive device in the restroom and intended to plant it in one of the classrooms. Consequently, canine units were called to the scene.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for murder (Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code) and attempted murder (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). The teenager fully admitted his guilt during questioning, the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region reported.
According to Mash, the attacker's name is Timofey K., 15, and a 9th-B student at Uspenskaya School. As MSK1.RU notes, his T-shirt read "No Lives Matter." According to Telegram channels, the teenager also took a selfie with the dead child in the background.
Security measures have currently been strengthened in all schools in the Odintsovo urban district.
