On December 4, 2025, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, visited several social institutions in the Khatlon region to learn about their operations and preparations for the 2025–2026 winter season. This was reported by the Ministry's press service.
The minister visited the State Institution "Nursing Home for the Elderly and Disabled in the Yavan District" and the "Republican Center for Permanent Residence of Mentally Disabled People in the Kushoniyon District." He was accompanied by Abdullo Safarzoda, Director of the Social Welfare Agency, and the heads of the executive authorities of the relevant districts.



The State Institution "Boarding Home for the Elderly and Disabled of the Yavan District" was established by a decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on January 15, 1995. The facility's main residential building consists of four floors and is designed to accommodate 100 elderly and disabled people in need of support, as well as 40 children with disabilities. Currently, 139 people reside there, including 100 adults (60 men and 40 women) and 39 children receiving full state support. Among the residents, 19 are people with Group I disabilities, 24 are people with Group II disabilities, three are people with Group III disabilities, and 56 are elderly people living alone. The facility employs 97 staff.
The State Institution "Republican Center for Permanent Residence of Persons with Mental Illnesses in the Kushoniyon District" was established by Decree No. 161 of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on March 25, 2015, and is designed to accommodate 100 people. Currently, the center houses 105 residents, including 60 men and 45 women, who are fully supported by the state. Of these, 32 are classified as Group I disabled and 64 are classified as Group II disabled. The facility employs 60 staff.



During the visit, the minister spoke with residents, inquiring about their well-being, living conditions, and the social services provided. Particular attention was paid to the availability of food, fuel, and other essential supplies to ensure a comfortable and safe stay for residents during the winter.
Abdullozoda emphasized that the living conditions of the elderly, disabled, and vulnerable populations are under the constant attention of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. He gave the management of the institutions specific instructions to improve service conditions, efficiently use budget funds, and regularly monitor the well-being of residents.
