The Louvre Museum in Paris will increase ticket prices by 45% for most tourists from countries outside the European Union, Interfax reports.
This move will increase the museum's annual revenue by 15-20 million euros, which will help finance the museum's restoration, Western media reports.
Starting January 14, individual visitors from countries outside the European Economic Area (the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway) will pay €32, a museum representative announced on Friday. Group tickets with accredited guides will cost €28.
In 2024, the Louvre welcomed 8.7 million visitors, 69% of whom were foreigners. American tourists lead the museum's visitor base (13%). Chinese tourists account for approximately 6%.
