The President recalled that the history of the Tajik flag has ancient roots, dating back to the millennia-old civilization of the Tajik people. In his address, Rahmon noted the significance of the legendary flag of Kova Kaviyoni, which has been celebrated in literature for centuries as a symbol of honor and glory, including in Abul Qosim Firdawsi's Shahnameh.
The President emphasized that the modern State Flag of Tajikistan reflects this historical tradition and is a symbol of independence achieved through the efforts of several generations. Rahmon recalled that the flag was adopted at the 16th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan in November 1992 in Khujand, marking an important step in the establishment of the new statehood.
According to the president, the Tajik people have lived under this flag for 33 years in peace and stability, developing the country and glorifying it on the international stage. He noted that the national flag of Tajikistan is displayed throughout the world at events and diplomatic missions, and is also raised in honor of Tajik athletes' victories in international competitions.
