On September 22, 2025, within the framework of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, participated and addressed a high-level event on water diplomacy, jointly organized by Tajikistan, Finland, and Senegal, the Tajik Foreign Ministry reported.
In his speech, S. Mukhriddin informed the participants about Tajikistan's global initiatives in the field of water resources and climate change, such as the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028," the International Year of Glacier Conservation 2025, as well as preparations for the Dushanbe Water Conference 2026 and the UN Water Conference in Dushanbe in 2028.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan also confirmed the country's readiness to cooperate with all international partners to ensure that water becomes a true bridge for cooperation, sustainable development, and peace.
The Minister noted that rational use of water resources and effective international coordination are key factors in addressing global environmental issues and ensuring food, energy, and climate security in the region.
