An investigation has been launched in the capital of Tajikistan into fraudulent visa applications for travel to the UK, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Two residents of the Faizabad district, aged 25 and 44, contacted the Shokhmansur district's OMVD-1 department. They stated that in April 2025, a 21-year-old resident of the city of Bokhtar, residing on Rudaki Street in the Shokhmansur district, received a total of 75,000 somoni from them, allegedly for a UK visa, but used the money for personal use, failing to fulfill his obligations.
An investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances of the incident and possible accomplices. Law enforcement agencies urge citizens to exercise caution when transferring funds to third parties for the processing of documents abroad and to only contact official institutions.
