The country's first children's hospice, "Tasallo," opened in Dushanbe at the Republican Scientific Center of Oncology under the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan. It provides palliative care to children with stage IV cancer.
The hospice was created at the initiative of Ozoda Rahmon, founder of the Lona Charitable Foundation. The opening ceremony was attended by Salomuddin Yusufi, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan; Jurakhon Bobokhonov, Director of the Lona Foundation; Akbar Murodzoda, Director of the Republican Scientific Oncology Center; and medical specialists.
According to the center's director, Akbar Murodzoda, the new hospice will provide children with not only medical but also psychological support, creating comfortable conditions for patients and their families even in the late stages of illness. The department is equipped with modern equipment to provide high-quality palliative care, and the center's specialists will ensure full attention to each child's needs.
The Tasallo Hospice also aims to strengthen the system of palliative care for children in Tajikistan and demonstrate the importance of philanthropic support in healthcare. Special attention is paid to creating an atmosphere of care and warmth: every child and their family will receive comprehensive support, including medical, psychological, and social assistance.
The Lona Foundation was founded in 2009 and has since provided assistance to children suffering from cancer and burns. The establishment of the Tasallo Hospice was an important step in the development of the national healthcare system and support for vulnerable groups.
The opening of the hospice symbolizes the country's commitment to humanitarian values and its desire to create a safe and supportive space for young patients and their families.
