The "Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality for Central Asia" was discussed at the Second Dialogue of Ministers of Economy and Energy of Central Asian Countries and Japan in Tokyo, according to NIAT Khovar, citing the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Taking part in the event, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Manuchehr Safarzoda noted that our region is also experiencing the effects of climate change. This is evidenced by the rapid melting of glaciers in the Republic of Tajikistan. For Central Asia, carbon neutrality is not only a matter of development but also a matter of security and prosperity.
"Tajikistan is making a significant contribution to achieving carbon neutrality not only for the region but for the entire planet. Thanks to its large reserves of renewable energy, 98% of the country's electricity is generated from clean sources. This is one of the highest rates in the world," said Manuchehr Safarzoda.
Participants welcomed the "Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality for Central Asia", developed by Japan jointly with Central Asian countries.
