The number of industrial enterprises providing jobs and import substitution is increasing in Tajikistan's Sughd region, the regional chairman's press service reported.
Several new production facilities are operating in the Asht district, established in preparation for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's state independence and the implementation of the "Years of Industrial Development" program (2022–2026). These include a sewing plant and a plastic packaging production facility at the Asht Agro-Industrial Complex Limited Liability Company.
The plastics company produces containers for the export of cherries and dried apricots, with a production capacity of 2,500 packages per day. The facility is equipped with modern Chinese equipment, and its products fully replace imported counterparts.
The sewing factory provides regular employment for women and girls in the region, producing clothing from high-quality fabrics. Additionally, the region has a hosiery factory, producing up to 10,000 pairs of socks per day and employing 50 residents.
The development of industrial enterprises contributes to the growth of the region's economy, increased employment, and strengthening the region's export potential.
